For users of Windows XP, Vista and 7 of the original and being free of security solutions utilizing Microsoft Security Essentials 1.0 or 2.0 can update the version they use now. Microsoft had planned to release a refresh for Security Essentials Microsoft antimalware engine 1.0 a few days ago. This is nothing more than a monthly update to 1.0 MSE designed to keep pace with the evolution of environmental threats. "As part of our regular update antimalware technology to address the latest in the threat landscape, MMPC plans to release a new antimalware engine,"said a member of Engine Microsoft Antimalware team.

Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) version of the engine Forefront Client Security (FCS) will be in the range 1.1.640X.0. In addition to MSE 1.0 with new antimalware 1.1.640X.0 machine, early adopters test the next major version of Microsoft Security Essentials which will also be asked to update their Beta Build. Last week, Microsoft is delivering to the Beta Refresh Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0, namely Build 2.0.522.0. This release is available for download either via Windows Update for users who previously had Beta 2.0 MSE or as a release through Microsoft Connect.

Customers who run the Microsoft Security Essentials 1.0 need to understand that the Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 Build 2.0.522.0 is still a Beta development milestone. This means that if they would switch to the MSE 2.0, they will run a prerelease software. If they feel comfortable with their MSE Beta testing must remain with version 1.0 to Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 public release planned later this year.
